IADC announces 2002 rig awards

The Alaska chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors announced its 2002 rig awards at a banquet Jan. 25. The awards recognize rigs that have successfully operated at least 365 days without a lost time accident during the calendar year.
Schlumberger was recognized for its CT Unit 4, which went 2,881 days without a lost time accident. Nabors Alaska Drilling Inc. Rig 2-ES turned in a 1,907-day record, while Doyon Drilling Inc. had a 1,373-day record for its Rig 141.
Doyon had the best record for the “Land Under 500,000 Man hours” category with a 0.42 incident rate. Nabors posted a 1.02 incident rate to lead the “Land Over 500,000 Man hours” category. The “Best Record for Coil Tubing” category award went to Schlumberger, with a 0.0 incident rate. Doyon Drilling Inc. Rig 15 — 1,089 days (Operator BP)
