Phillips moving ahead with Moquawkie development

Phillips Alaska Inc. will be building a gas pipeline beginning this summer from the Lone Creek well on the west side of Cook Inlet near Beluga to Marathon Oil Co.’s Beluga pipeline. Anadarko Petroleum Corp. drilled the discovery well, but partner Phillips is the operator. Phillips has operations on the west side at the Beluga River gas field.
Surface land belongs to the Tyonek Native Corp. and subsurface to Cook Inlet Region Inc.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the year. The 6 miles of 6 inch diameter gas gathering line will be buried adjacent to the Pan Am road and along a seismic corridor. There will be 1.3 miles of new gravel road to go around a tract of private land.
Phillips evaluated three routes for the pipeline: north to Beluga; south to Granite Point; and east to the Marathon pipeline. The route east was selected based on both economics and environmental considerations.
The 1 Lone Creek discovery well was drilled in 1998 by Anadarko in 18-12N-11W, SM, and the pipeline will be in 12N-11W, SM, sections 18-24, east from the pad to Marathon Oil Co.’s Beluga pipeline. A second well was drilled in 2000, but tests indicated the well was wet and it was plugged and abandoned.
Gas conditioning and compression will be done at the well site and equipment there will include dehydration facilities, meters, produced water tank and compressors.
