Kevin Meyers completes executive team with vice presidents for gas commercialization, human resources, president for Polar Tankers
Phillips Alaska Inc. President and CEO Kevin Meyers has appointed a new Alaska North Slope gas commercialization vice president and completed his executive team announcements.
Joseph Marushack, business services manager at Phillips Petroleum’s Sweeny Refinery in Texas, has been named to the new position of vice president, ANS gas commercialization, for Phillips Alaska.
“This newly created position recognizes the growing importance of North Slope natural gas in Phillips’ portfolio,” Meyers said. “North Slope gas is one of the largest undeveloped assets in Phillips’ worldwide portfolio.”
Marushack has worked in the Phillips’ exploration and production division, refining, corporate treasury and the corporate planning and development group. He began his Phillips career in 1982. He holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming and a master’s of business administration from the University of Utah.
Completing the Phillips Alaska management team, Meyers named John Whitehead vice president of human resources. Whitehead has been senior vice president of operations in Jakarta, Indonesia, with ARCO International. He went to work for ARCO in 1978 after earning a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas, Austin, and worked at ARCO Alaska from 1978-87 and 1993-97.
In addition to the Alaska assets, Phillips Alaska’s operations include Polar Tankers Inc. and John R. Hennon has been named president of Polar Tankers, headquartered in Long Beach, Calif.
Hennon has been with Phillips for 22 years, most recently as president of Phillips Puerto Rico Core Inc., a petrochemical manufacturing facility. He has also been Phillips’ corporate manager of environment and safety.
Phillips Alaska has about 900 employees, with another 350 maritime employees at Polar Tankers.
