Deaton named CEO of Baker Hughes

Chad Deaton, 51, will replace Mike Wiley as chairman and chief executive officer of oilfield services company Baker Hughes effective Oct. 25, the company said Oct. 4.

The appointment concludes the company’s search for a new chief executive, which began in April after Wiley, a former president of ARCO Alaska, announced his intention to retire.Deaton has been chief executive officer and president of Hanover Compressor in Houston since 2002. Previously, he served as the executive vice president of Schlumberger Oilfield Services.

Deaton has been in the oilfield services for more than 27 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Wyoming in 1976.
