BOEM schedules Alaska 5-year hearings

The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has Alaska public meetings scheduled on the draft environmental impact statement for the outer continental shelf 2017-22 five year oil and gas lease program.

The Department of Interior’s proposed program includes three lease sales in Alaska: in the Beaufort Sea in 2020; in Cook Inlet in 2021; and in the Chukchi Sea in 2023.

The public comment period runs through May 2.

North Slope meetings were scheduled for late March and early April.

There will be a Fairbanks meeting April 4 from 7-10 p.m. at the Morris Thomson Visitor Center; an Anchorage meeting April 5, 3-7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, 600 E. Benson; and a Ninilchik meeting April 6 from 7-10 p.m. at the Ninilchik School.
