Alaska North Slope crude oil production averaged 541,450 barrels per day in February, down 1.5 percent from a January average of 549,679 bpd, with the highest percent and per-barrel changes at BP Exploration (Alaska)-operated Lisburne, part of greater Prudhoe Bay.
Production attributed to Lisburne averaged 25,475 bpd in February, down 10% from a January average of 28,301, a drop of 2,816 bpd. Lisburne includes volumes from Point McIntyre, Niakuk and Raven.
The ConocoPhillips Alaska-operated Alpine field averaged 54,020 bpd in February, down 4.3 percent, 2,444 bpd, from a January average of 56,464 bpd. Alpine volumes include satellite production from Fiord, Nanuq and Qannik, all, along with Alpine, part of the Colville River unit.
February production data comes from the Alaska Department of Revenue’s Tax Division which reports North Slope oil production consolidated by major production centers and provides daily production and monthly averages. January Cook Inlet and North Slope by-field data is from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which reports the more detailed information on a month-delay basis.
All reported volumes down All North Slope volumes as reported by the Tax Division were down month-over-month.
Hilcorp Alaska-operated Endicott averaged 9,329 bpd in February, down 4.2 percent, 409 bpd, from a January average of 9,738 bpd. The volume shown for Endicott includes satellites at Eider, Minke and Sag Delta, as well as production from the Savant Alaska-operated Badami field, the farthest east field currently producing on the North Slope.
AOGCC data show that Badami averaged 1,141 bpd in January, down 5.4 percent, 65 bpd, from a December average of 1,206 bpd.
The BP-operated Prudhoe Bay field, the North Slope’s largest, averaged 314,912 bpd in February, down 0.6 percent from a January average of 316,925, a drop of 2,013 bpd. Prudhoe volumes include satellite production at Aurora, Borealis, Midnight Sun, Orion, Polaris, Sag River, Schrader Bluff and Ugnu, as well as production from the Hilcorp-operated Milne Point and Northstar fields.
AOGCC data show Milne Point averaged 18,796 bpd in January, up 0.5 percent from a December average of 18,707, while Northstar averaged 5,628 bpd in January, up 1 percent from a December average of 5,574 bpd.
The ConocoPhillips-operated Kuparuk River field averaged 137,714 bpd in February, down 0.4 percent from a January average of 138,251, a difference of 537 bpd. Kuparuk volumes include satellite production from Meltwater, Tabasco, Tarn and West Sak, as well as production from the Eni-operated Nikaitchuq field and the Caelus Alaska-operated Oooguruk field.
AOGCC data show that Nikaitchuq averaged 25,605 bpd in January, up 0.1 percent from a December average of 25,591. Oooguruk averaged 9,250 bpd in January, down 16.4 percent from a December average of 11,062 bpd.
Most Cook Inlet fields down Production from all but one Cook Inlet field was down month-over-month between January and December.
AOGCC data show the Hilcorp Alaska-operated McArthur River field, Cook Inlet’s largest, averaged 5,229 bpd in January, up 1 percent from a December average of 5,176 bpd.
Hilcorp’s Beaver Creek field, Cook Inlet’s smallest producing oil field, averaged 125 bpd in January, down 3 percent from a December average of 129 bpd.
Granite Point, also run by Hilcorp, averaged 2,569 bpd in January, with month-to-month production marginally the same, dropping just 1 bpd from a December average of 2,570 bpd.
Middle Ground Shoal, formerly owned by ExxonMobil subsidiary XTO but acquired by Hilcorp in 2015, averaged 1,915 bpd in January, down 0.7 percent from a December average of 1,928 bpd.
The Cook Inlet Energy-operated Redoubt Shoal field averaged 681 bpd in January, down 8.6 percent from a December average of 745 bpd.
Hilcorp’s Swanson River field averaged 1,928 bpd in January, down 8 percent from a December average of 2,095 bpd, while Hilcorp’s Trading Bay field had the largest Cook Inlet month-over-month decline, averaging 2,618 bpd in January, down 9.2 percent from a December average of 2,884 bpd.
The Cook Inlet Energy-operated West McArthur River averaged 1,114 bpd in January, down 8.4 percent from a December average of 1,217 bpd.
ANS crude oil production peaked in 1988 at 2.1 million bpd; Cook Inlet crude oil production peaked in 1970 at more than 227,000 bpd.
