Alyeska’s planned shutdowns start in May
Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. said May 7 that its planned summer maintenance shutdowns would start May 10, with a four-hour shutdown to perform value maintenance along the 800-mile crude oil pipeline.
Five shutdowns are planned, lasting from four to 18 hours each, the company said. The shutdowns allow maintenance crews time to work on coordinated projects along the pipeline and at the Valdez Marine Terminal and typically coincide with North Slope producers’ routine maintenance on equipment and facilities.
Other planned shutdowns include:
•An 18-hour shutdown June 8 to test mainline valves at various locations along the pipeline;
•A six-hour shutdown June 30 to install temporary bypass piping around Pump Station 10, allowing the station to be isolated while piping inside the station is disconnected;
•A six-hour shutdown July 8 to remove the Pump Station 10 bypass and restore normal flow at that station; and
•An 18-hour shutdown Aug. 9 to test mainline valves at various locations along the line.
