United Way of Anchorage moved in April to newly refurbished office space in the smaller of Phillips Alaska’s two towers at 8th Ave. and G St. in Anchorage.
Phillips Alaska donated the 7,200 square-foot office space, which will be shared by United Way, Alaska Community Foundation, Bridge Builders of Anchorage and the Foraker Group.
“Phillips Alaska has a long history of supporting the United Way of Anchorage and its member agencies which makes such a difference in the quality of life for your community,” said Kevin Meyers, president of Phillips Alaska. “We look forward to welcoming the United Way of Anchorage to the neighborhood.”
United Way said the nonprofits are expected to occupy the offices for at least four years and have options to extend their lease beyond that time if Phillips does not need the space.
The in-kind donation is valued in excess of $123,000 a year.
United Way moved from its long-time space on West Fireweed. The agency said most of that building, which it owns, is used by a half-dozen small- to mid-sized nonprofit organizations.
