BP renews, expands outsourcing to Andersen Consulting

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Andersen Consulting said Sept. 13 that BP has renewed and expanded the finance and administrative services that Andersen provides to BP’s Alaska exploration and pipeline operations under terms of a 10 year $100 million agreement.

Under the agreement, the latest in a series of outsourcing arrangement between the two companies, Andersen will continue to provide finance and administrative services it has been providing to BP’s exploration, production and pipeline operations in Alaska, and will provide expanded service to support the eastern operating area at Prudhoe Bay, where BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. recently assumed the operatorship.

Andersen said its Anchorage office and its Senergy Business Center in Houston will provide the services, which include accounts payable, general accounting, treasury, financial analysis and consolidated reporting.

Andersen said that the new Alaska agreement between BP and Andersen Consulting follows January’s announcement of a 10-year, $200 million contract — the largest-ever downstream energy finance and administrative services outsourcing deal in the United States. In a June, 1999 announcement, Andersen Consulting was awarded a 5-year, $100 million contract to extend its finance and administrative outsourcing arrangement with BP in the United Kingdom and Norway.
