Hanson named APSC senior vice president
Rod Hanson has been named senior vice president of operations and maintenance at Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.
Hanson, a 23-year Alyeska employee, is currently vice president of system integrity, engineering and projects, a position he has held for the past year and a half.
Hanson will take his new post June 18, replacing Mike Joynor, who is retiring at the end of June after 16 years with the company.
Alyeska President Thomas Barrett noted Hanson’s knowledge of pipeline operations, exceptional leadership skills and track record of high performance in previous Alyeska posts.
“Rod is an ideal fit to take on this responsibility,” Barrett said in a statement. “He is a standout leader who brings a depth of TAPS operations, safety and organizational expertise to the position.”
Hanson joined Alyeska in 1991 and has held a wide range of management positions and worked at numerous jobsites, including along the pipeline, in Valdez, Fairbanks and Anchorage.
Hanson started as an engineering project leader on various projects on the pipeline and in Valdez. He has since served as project engineer, engineering coordinator, maintenance planning supervisor, pipeline advisor, pipeline manager, asset manager, marine terminal operations and maintenance manager, commercial manager with supply chain and contracting and health, safety, environment director.
