State of Alaska calls for comments on Cook Inlet, North Slope Foothills sales

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, is requesting “substantial new information” for both the Cook Inlet and North Slope Foothills areawide sales, scheduled for May 2005. The calls for comments for the sales opened Sept. 21 and closes Dec. 1. Best interest findings were issued for Cook Inlet in 1999 and for the North Slope Foothills in 2001; both are available on the division’s website www.dog.dnr.state.ak.us/oil, as is the call for new information.

Agencies and the public have 60 days to provide new information and the division will then determine whether there is “substantial new information” which justifies a supplement to the best interest finding. A supplement, or a decision of no new information, will be issued 90 days prior to the sale.
