PETROLEUM DIRECTORY: Northern Air Cargo launches new Boeing 727 jet service

Northern Air Cargo has announced a new Boeing 727 jet service from Anchorage to Fairbanks, Deadhorse and Barrow. The service will operate five days per week and will enable overnight freight delivery between Anchorage and the Arctic destinations.

Starting on July 2 customers can drop freight in Anchorage by 7 p.m. for pickup at the destination airport the following morning, Tuesday to Saturday. Counter-to-counter small packages known as “NacPacs” can be dropped off as late as 8:30 pm for guaranteed delivery on the next flight.

Northern Air Cargo will also station a Douglas DC-6 aircraft at its Deadhorse station. This aircraft will provide on-demand charter services throughout the North Slope.

“We are investing in the future of these communities throughout the Arctic in part because of demand, but also as a way to improve the supply chain that has served the Arctic with very little change in the last 5 years,” Stephanie Holthaus, Northern Air Cargo’s vice president of cargo said. “With our new 727’s reliability, efficiency, speed, and service will all be greatly improved.”
