Unocal has King Salmon back on line

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Unocal’s King Salmon platform went back into production April 29 at 9 a.m.

Unocal Alaska spokeswoman Roxanne Sinz told PNA the net volume April 30 was 4,600 barrels per day, with a return to full production, 7,000 bpd per day, expected within two weeks.

Sinz said the cause of the April 20 fire, which occurred when gas was released during well work, is still under investigation. Unocal’s investigation process includes not just determining the cause, but working out how to prevent such an accident in the future, she said, adding that the company doesn’t want to jump to any conclusions.
