Mining News: Northern Neighbors: TMAC cuts more, deeper high-grade gold at Doris

TMAC Resources Inc. Sept. 14 said drilling below the diabase dyke at the Doris gold mine located on the company’s Hope Bay property in Nunavut continues to intercept very high-grade gold over minable widths below the shallower Doris Mine reserves. Highlights from drilling the deeper zone, known as Doris North BTD, include: cut 4.2 meters of 43.6 grams per metric ton gold in hole TM50019a; 13.2 meters averaging 26.7 g/t gold in hole TM50025; 5.1 meters of 50 g/t gold in holeTM50027; and 4.3 meters of 68.9 g/t gold in hole TM50030. “These positive results clearly demonstrate the significant exploration and development potential below the dyke at Doris and represent another milestone in the evolution of the Doris Mine,” said TMAC CEO Catharine Farrow. “As we transition to production at the end of this year, it also establishes the annual process of replacing ore mined and begins the work of adding additional ounces of gold to Hope Bay’s global gold resources.” As a result of the success, TMAC plans to begin underground ramp development below the diabase dyke. The Doris North BTD ramp development is designed to provide access development of mineralization identified so far and platforms to effectively drill extensions of the mineralization. Access development will begin in the fourth quarter and reach the Doris North BTD zones in the third quarter of 2017. Drilling is expected to start early in 2017, as platforms become available.
