State evaluating Healy basin license proposal
Petroleum News
The Alaska Division of Oil and Gas said Nov. 9 that it intends to evaluate a gas only exploration license proposal for the Healy basin in Interior Alaska. The division is soliciting competitive proposals, and because of that is the name of the applicant and the provisions of the proposal confidential. The proposal was received in April, the month the state accepts unsolicited exploration license proposals.
The division is requesting competing proposals within the Healy basin exploration license solicitation area encompassing some 552,960 acres. The irregularly somewhat L-shaped area is adjacent to Denali National Park on the west and to Tatlanika Creek on the east. It begins south of Healy and extends north almost to the Clear Missile Early Warning Station, encompassing a portion of the Parks Highway and the Usibelli coal mine.
Anyone intending to submit a competing license proposal must notify the division by Dec. 9, and must submit the proposal by Jan. 10.
Proposal requirements include a description of the proposed area including a map; the work commitment in dollars; the term of the license; the amount and form of security to be posted.
There is no rental fee for exploration licenses, but in addition to the work commitment there is a $1 per acre fee for the license.
