The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management has reorganized part of its Alaska state office.
BLM said that effective Nov. 1, BLM’s Alaska Division of Lands, Minerals and Resources is being split into two: the Division of Resources, Lands and Planning and the Division of Energy and Solid Minerals. The agency said the reorganization aligns the Alaska energy and minerals programs with those in other BLM offices.
“For Alaska, it will give better visibility and direction to the programs experiencing increased demands due to the President’s energy policy,” State Director Henri Bisson said in a statement. Bisson also said the restructure will give planning and easement management functions a more prominent role.
Deputy State Director Nolan Heath heads the Division of Resources, Lands and Planning.
Acting Deputy State Director Peter Ditton heads the Division of Energy and Solid Minerals. Heath can be reached at (907) 271-5477 and Ditton at (907) 271-3122.
