Operator Hilcorp North Slope did no drilling in the Greater Point McIntyre Area at Prudhoe during the 2023 plan of development, but two rotary wells, and possibly up to four sidetracks are included in Hilcorp North Slope's 2024 POD, the Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas said in an Aug. 22 approval of the plan, signed by division Director Derek Nottingham.
The division said "Hilcorp committed to drilling six wells in GPMA" during the 2023 POD, Oct. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2024, but the five coiled tubing sidetracks were "deferred for workovers and sidetracks in other areas" at Prudhoe and a rotary well in the Raven participating area was "deferred due to issues following warming up the rig from cold stack."
The division said Hilcorp did not include any workovers in the 2023 POD but expects to complete two by the end of the 2023 POD.
Participating areas There are six PAs at Greater Point McIntyre: Combined Niakuk, Lisburne, North Prudhoe Bay, Point McIntyre, Raven and West Beach. The division said North Prudhoe Bay and West Beach are shut-in.
Hilcorp's 2024 POD shows the majority of production comes from the Point McIntyre and Lisburne PAs, with Combined Niakuk and Raven together contributing 3.8% from April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024. Raven is the smallest contributor, with Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission production data for July showing just two Raven oil pool wells in production, with a combined production averaging just 71 barrels per day.
2024 POD The division said the drilling commitment for the 2024 POD includes the two rotary wells at Raven and four possible sidetracks at the Point McIntyre PA, one rotary well at the Lisburne PA and two rotary wells targeting the Brookian.
The division said if Hilcorp does not drill the two Raven wells it will need to submit an amendment to the 2024 POD.
There are no well workovers included in the 2024 POD, but the division said Hilcorp will evaluate workover opportunities as they arise.
No facility projects are planned.
The 2024 POD covers Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2025.
