ARCO Alaska does shallow hazard survey for McCovey prospect

ARCO Alaska Inc. received permission from the U.S. Minerals Management Service in mid-March to do a shallow hazard survey at the Beaufort Sea McCovey prospect in preparation for exploratory drilling activities.

McCovey is an area of state and federal oil and gas leases in the Beaufort Sea north of Prudhoe Bay; both Reindeer Island and No Name Island lie in this group of leases.

The McCovey prospect was one of potential new North Slope operating areas in the charter for development. The prospect description included in the charter included 14 state leases and four federal outer continental shelf leases.
