Arctic Oil & Gas Directory: Kleinmann joins CH2M HILL in advisory role
CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm, said Feb. 3 that Bob Kleinmann, Ph.D., is joining the firm as a senior mining technologist. Dr. Kleinmann will be transitioning into an advisory role for the mining team’s top 10 programs, supporting business development activities, and helping define mining technology best practices.
Trained as an environmental geologist, Dr. Kleinmann started his career at the Department of the Interior, U.S. Bureau of Mines, in the Environmental Technology Division. He initiated the Acid Mine Drainage research group, which rapidly became the nation’s lead research group in this area. Less than four years after joining the Bureau, Dr. Kleinmann was given responsibility for all of the environmental research being conducted at the Pittsburgh Research Center.
After 16 years at the Bureau, he joined the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory where he worked as a division director for the Geosciences group and the Environmental Management group.
“I’m extremely pleased that Bob has decided to join CH2M HILL. He is a nationally recognized expert, and he brings a wealth of knowledge on remediation of acid rock drainage and mine closure,” said Dr. John Mogge, technology, practices, and design director CH2M HILL.
