Canada issues calls for nominations for crown lands north of 60 degrees

Canada’s Minister of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development has issued a call for nominations for oil and gas license areas on Crown reserve lands north of 60 degrees in the Central Mackenzie Valley and in the Beaufort Sea/Mackenzie Delta.

Nominations are due at the Oil and Gas Management Directorate, Northern Oil and Gas Branch on Dec. 17, and individuals or companies requesting the inclusion of a parcel are expected to submit a bid in response to the call for bids, and the minister reserves the right to refuse future posting requests by individuals or companies which nominate lands and do not submit bids.

All Native subsurface selections pursuant to the land claim settlement agreements are excluded from lands available for posting.

In the Central Mackenzie Valley, the ministry said, terms of exploration licenses issued in a subsequent call for bids would be eight years, consisting of two consecutive periods of four years each.

In the Beaufort Sea/Mackenzie Delta, terms of exploration licenses will be nine years, consisting of two consecutive periods of five and four years each.

Information and maps are available on the ministry’s website at: www.ainc-inac.gc.ca/oil/act/cal/index_e.html.
