State extends public comment period for foothills areawide sale

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas said Aug. 1 that it has extended the public comment period for the preliminary best interest finding and the Alaska Coastal Management Plan consistency determination for the proposed North Slope foothills areawide 2001 oil and gas lease sale until Sept. 15.

The original public comment period closed Aug. 14.

Other dates have not been affected. If the decision is made that the proposed sale best serves the interests of the state an instruction to bidders package will be available Feb. 6 and the sale it is tentatively scheduled to be held in conjunction with the Cook Inlet areawide 2001 sale in May 2001.
