BlueCrest seeking small gas line for Cosmo

The Enstar Natural Gas Co. affiliate Alaska Pipeline Co. plans to construct a 3,900-foot pipeline to connect the Cosmopolitan unit to the existing grid near Anchor Point.

The eight-inch “Cosmo Lateral” would become part of the existing Anchor Point Pipeline System, which Enstar built several years ago to connect to the North Fork Pipeline.

Cosmopolitan unit operator BlueCrest Alaska Operation LLC would fund the $1.47 million project. Construction would begin in November. Initially, the lateral would supply BlueCrest with gas for operations until the unit comes online. The company has said that it expects to purchase some 6 million cubic feet per day from the Enstar system.

While BlueCrest is targeting oil with its initial development program at Cosmopolitan, the company requested the lateral “to avoid stranding any gas it may produce as a result of its activities,” according to a permitting application from Enstar. BlueCrest believes the Cosmopolitan unit could eventually produce as much as 50 million cubic feet per day.

The Regulatory Commission of Alaska is accepting comments through Oct. 28, notices of competing proposals through Nov. 6 and actual proposals through Jan. 5, 2016.
