Mining News: Northern Neighbors: Drilling shows Vickers is narrowing to west

Northquest Ltd. Oct. 26 published the first batch of results from the 2015 drill program at the Pistol Bay gold project in Nunavut. This year’s drilling focused on expanding the Vickers Target, a zone where previous drilling has cut broad intercepts with good gold grades, including 156.5 meters averaging 8.23 g/t gold in hole PB-12-22; 158 meters of 3.46 g/t gold in hole PB-13-03; and 222 meters of 1.65 g/t gold in hole PB-14-08. The best intersections of the seven 2015 holes reported came in PB-15-01 – 25 meters averaging 1.41 grams per metric ton gold; PB-15-02 – 21 meters averaging 2.01 g/t gold; PB15-04 – 24 meters averaging 2.95 g/t gold; PB15-06 – five meters averaging 5.11 g/t gold; and PB15-07 – eight meters averaging 3.16 g/t gold. These holes indicate the easterly dipping deposit is pinching off quickly at depth on the west side. Northquest CEO Jon North said, “These drill holes are mainly from the western part of the Vickers gold zone, as currently defined, and reflect gold concentrations typical of the mineralized zone in the intrusive environment. Visible gold was noted on all sections except (one) and these drill holes are beginning to define the lower contact of the gold zone that appears to have an easterly plunge, accordingly, the intersections reported on these sections are generally narrower at depth than those in other sections farther to the east.”
