Oil Patch Insider: Another year, another attempt to open ANWR

Alaska lawmakers visited Washington, D.C., in mid-February to advocate for the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, a transportation bill before the House of Representatives that would allow for exploration and development in Area 1002, also known as the coastal plain, of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR.

While in town, they took questions from Republican staff members on the House Natural Resources Committee. Over an action movie soundtrack, Speaker of the House Mike Chenault, R-Nikiski, and Rep. Reggie Joule, D-Kotzebue, extol the virtues of ANWR.

“I’m a lifelong Democrat, and in our state this is a non-partisan issue,” Joule said.
