BP still ramping up wells at Badami

BP Exploration (Alaska) has restarted its eastern North Slope Badami field, “and we are still ramping up the wells and the plant,” BP spokesman Daren Beaudo told Petroleum News Oct. 6.

Beaudo said Badami produced 1,249 barrels Oct. 4 and year-to-date has shipped 7,659 barrels.

The field’s peak volume is not yet known, as it is still being brought on line. BP mothballed the field in 2003 when production dropped to 1,350 bpd.

BP said the field could operate continuously or intermittently — or be shut back down. Beaudo said that decision has not yet been made, nor has a decision on whether or not BP might drill a well at Badami this winter.

“Badami facilities are still being evaluated as the host processing facility for Liberty development,” he said.
