SAE gets IHA for Beaufort 3-D seismic survey

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service has issued an incidental take authorization to SAExploration Inc. for a 3-D ocean-bottom-node seismic survey in the Beaufort Sea. NMFS said the authorization was effective July 1 through Oct. 15, with actual data acquisition expected to take some 70 days.

SAE told the agency it expects effectives shooting to occur about 70 percent of the 70 days.

The survey will be in the nearshore waters of the Beaufort Sea between Harrison Bay and the Sagavanirktok River delta, with a maximum of 300 square miles to be surveyed in 2015.

SAE said in its application that the work is being done in partnership with Kuukpik Corp.

A Bureau of Ocean Energy Management application for the project described the proposed survey as multi-year and multi-customer.
