November production drops; about half of loss from Z pad at Prudhoe Endicott up (includes crude from Badami, Eider fields); Milne Point also shows increase; all other fields in state down Kristen Nelson PNA News Editor
Alaska North Slope crude and natural gas liquids production was down in November by 2.2 percent from October.
Daily ANS liquids production (crude and NGLs) averaged 1,200,905 barrels in November, down 27,537 barrels from 1,228,442 barrels in October and down 8.6 percent from 1,313,215 barrels in November 1997. Prudhoe leads loss, Lisburne a close second Prudhoe Bay, including the Midnight Sun field, averaged 607,038 barrels of crude a day in November, down 1.8 percent from 618,253 barrels in October. BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. has said the Z pad, shut down after an explosion late in October, averaged 10,000 barrels a day, accounting for most of the 11,215 barrel difference. Also at Prudhoe, W pad was down for maintenance and then for additional work following a gas leak as the pad was being brought back online. That pad averages 7,000 to 10,000 barrels a day. Prudhoe Bay production is down 10.7 percent from November 1997 production averaging 680,050 barrels a day.
Prudhoe Bay NGL production averaged 59,224 barrels a day in November, up 4.8 percent from 59,140 barrels a day in October but down 2.5 percent from an average of 60,763 barrels a day in November 1997.
Combined, Prudhoe Bay crude and NGL production account for 54 percent of state liquids production, down from 55 percent in November 1997. Kuparuk also down The Kuparuk River field, which includes Tarn, Tabasco and West Sak, averaged 263,927 barrels a day in November, down 7,634 barrels from an October average of 271,561 barrels (2.8 percent), but down only 0.4 percent from a November 1997 average of 264,848 barrels a day. Kuparuk accounts for 21.4 percent of statewide production, up from 19.7 percent a year ago.
The Lisburne production center, which processes crude oil from the Point McIntyre, Niakuk and Lisburne fields, averaged 161,012 barrels a day in November, down from 171,804 barrels in October, a drop of 10,792 barrels a day (6.3 percent) and down 17.3 percent from an average 194,681 barrels a day in November 1997. Lisburne accounts for 13 percent of statewide liquids production, down from 14.5 percent a year ago. Endicott, Milne Point production up Production from Endicott (including the Badami field to the east and the Eider field at Endicott) averaged 53,753 barrels a day in November, up 2.1 percent from an average 52,632 barrels in October but down 11.4 percent from an average 60,654 barrels a day in November 1997. Endicott accounts for 4.4 percent of state production, about level from 4.5 percent a year ago.
Milne Point production averaged 55,951 barrels a day in November, up 1.6 percent from an October average of 55,052 barrels a day and up 7.2 percent from a November 1997 average of 52,219 barrels a day. Milne Point accounts for 4.5 percent of statewide production, up from 3.9 percent a year ago. Cook Inlet exploration acreage November crude oil production from Cook Inlet fields averaged 32,478 barrels a day, down 1.9 percent from an average 33,096 barrels a day in October but up 1.2 percent from an average 32,092 barrels a day in November 1997. Cook Inlet production ac-counts for 2.6 percent of statewide liquids.
