Pigging conferences set for Anchorage
Two conferences on pipeline pigging are scheduled for Anchorage this fall.
A conference on maintenance pigging will be held Oct. 19 and a conference on intelligent pigging Nov. 13.
Both conferences, sponsored by BP Exploration (Alaska), ConocoPhillips Alaska and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation under the auspices of the Charter for Development of the Alaska North Slope will be at the Hilton Hotel in Anchorage.
Conference objectives are to examine the latest technology and best practices for corrosion management, monitoring, and inspection of oil pipelines in Arctic climates.
The morning session of each conference will include presentations from experts familiar with:
• Current practices, conditions, and limitations for pigging of North Slope pipelines;
• Best practices and recent advances in pigging programs for corrosion management of North Slope pipelines;
• Existing and new tools and techniques for cleaning, performing in line inspections, and preventing corrosion of pipelines under Arctic conditions; and
• Latest technology in pig designs to assist North Slope pipeline operators to increase effectiveness of pigging runs and enable pigging of pipelines considered unpiggable. A Q&A session will be held with the presenters and an industry and regulatory panel in the afternoon.
