Anchor handling tug/supply vessel begins new Alaska charter

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Seabulk Offshore Ltd., a subsidiary of marine transportation provider Hvide Marine Inc., said Aug. 14 that the Seabulk Montana will be in Cook Inlet in late October to begin a five-year charter with Cook Inlet Spill Prevention and Response Inc.

The 5,350-horsepower, 205-foot, anchor handling tug/supply vessel will be used in spill response training exercising, anchor handling and barge movement, emergency tow of tankers and response to oil spills.

Earlier this month, the company announced a long-term Alaska charter between Hvide Marine and Gold Star Maritime, a Tesoro maritime subsidiary, putting Hvide’s double-hull petroleum tanker HMI Cape Lookout Shoals to work in Cook Inlet and Alaska waters transporting crude oil to Tesoro refineries.
