ASAP awards contract; GPPO RFP out
The state is continuing work on both the in-state gas pipeline project and the mainline liquefied natural gas project.
The Alaska Gasline Development Corp. said Feb. 20 that the Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline, ASAP, project office has awarded a facilities design contract to Fluor/WorleyParsons joint venture Arctic Solutions for deliverables including a series of technical studies, development of the project design basis, project execution planning, cost estimating, schedule development and other services.
Arctic Solutions JV is currently performing preliminary front-end engineering and design for ASAP’s gas processing facilities. ASAP is the proposed in-state gas natural pipeline which would bring North Slope natural gas to Fairbanks and Southcentral.
On the LNG front, the Alaska Department of Natural Resources’ Gas Pipeline Project Office issued a request for proposals Feb. 25 for a consultant to develop a strategic plan to amplify the state’s efforts to attract interest from Asian LNG buyers. The closing date for the $50,000 contract was March 1.
The RFP noted the governor’s benchmark for the Alaska Pipeline Project to execute a pre-front-end engineering and design commercial agreement this spring, followed by a full field season this summer, and said “Alaska’s efforts to attract interest from Asian buyers must accelerate in this same time-frame, so that potential customers are eager to purchase Alaska LNG as a project to provide it takes shape.”
Desired experience listed in the RFP includes: “Existing contacts with key decision makers in Asian companies and government organizations”; “Knowledge of Alaska’s prior gas commercialization efforts and current business and political climate”; consulting experience with foreign and domestic governments; and ability to perform services under compressed timelines.
