MMS may make 1977 data available

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Services has 1970s multi-channel seismic reflection data from Shumagin, Kodiak and Gulf of Alaska geologic basins which it may make available for sale through the World Data Center for Marine Geology and Geophysics in Boulder, Colo., if there is interest in the data.

MMS said some 6,373 miles of multi-channel seismic reflection data were acquired by Digicon Inc. during the summer and fall of 1976 under a permit issued by MMS. The agency acquired the data in 1977, and under conditions of the contract and subsequent regulations, the data became public March 29.

For more information or to express interest in acquiring the data contact Gerald Shearer at MMS in Anchorage 907-271-6029 or email [email protected].
