IOGCC recognizes Phillips for Alpine development
Petroleum News Alaska
Phillips Alaska Inc. received the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission Chairman’s Stewardship Award in the major company division for its Alpine field development. Kevin Meyers, president of Phillips Alaska, accepted the award at the IOGCC mid-year meeting in Anchorage May 14.
The IOGCC said Alpine is in one of the state’s largest and most dynamic braided river deltas in an area historically important to subsistence user groups. Phillips was recognized for working in partnership with the local community and avoiding or mitigating environmental damage to local physical and biological resources through careful planning, innovative design and dedicated compliance oversight.
The Alpine facilities occupy 97 acres and will develop a subsurface area of approximately 40,000 acres. Production began last November.
Gov. Tony Knowles is chairman of the IOGCC, which represents the governors of 37 states that produce virtually all U.S. oil and natural gas.
