Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corporation Professional Services support UIC’s mission to provide social and economic resources to its shareholders and their descendents through the development of long-term, meaningful career opportunities for UIC shareholders. Our areas of expertise in UICPS fall under three companies, UMIAQ, UIC Science, and UIC Arctic Response Services. UICPS identifies potentially impacted resources, communities, organizations, and individuals to help define project issues and constraints associated with future energy projects and their potential impacts to natural, environmental, and human resources.

Q. What do you most want people to know about your company?

A. UMIAQ meets the growing demands of resource and rural community development projects in Alaska. UMIAQ provides design, consulting, oilfield services, and science logistics that address the unique tactical and environmental challenges of the Arctic and remote regions of Alaska.

Our design division, formerly known as LCMF, has over 3 decades of experience in architectural design, civil, structural, and mechanical engineering and surveying designing solutions that honors qualities of purpose and place.

Consulting division provides clients with specialized assets and trained personnel to meet the commitments of regulatory planning, stakeholder and community relations, health, safety, environment and training, response planning and operations, and geospatial analysis.

Oilfield services division provides project management experience, including engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance for both onshore and offshore exploration infrastructure. We also own and operate camps supporting staging for oil and gas exploration.

A. UMIAQ is located in Anchorage, Alaska.

A. UMIAQ was established in 2006 to meet the growing service demands of resource development activities in Alaska and beyond. In August 2010, UMIAQ’s services expanded when it merged with fellow UIC subsidiary LCMF, a professional services firm that has provided architectural design, civil and mechanical engineering, and surveying services since 1982.

A. UMIAQ’s primary business activity is diversified development and support services.

Q. Are there important projects the company is currently a part of or has done recently?

A. Shell OCS exploration project regulatory support, Point Thompson environmental and regulatory support, Tuzzy Library expansion project in Barrow, Alaska.

A. UIC has over 2,000 employees.

A. UIC Professional Services has created a new company, UIC Arctic Response Services, which provides a broad range of arctic project management, including onshore, near-shore, and offshore oil spill prevention and response services, equipment, maintenance and training, and asset management.
