Q. What is the official name of your company?
A. Halcón Resources Corporation
Q. Where is your company located?
A. Houston, Texas
Q. What year was the company founded and by whom?
A. Floyd Wilson founded Halcón Resources LLC in October 2011. Halcón Resources LLC recapitalized a public micro-cap E&P company named RAM Energy Resources in February of 2012 and changed its name to Halcón Resources Corporation.
Q. What is your company’s primary business activity?
A. Halcón Resources Corporation is an independent energy company focused on the acquisition, production, exploration and development of onshore liquids-rich assets in the United States.
Q. How many employees does your company have?
A. Halcón has nearly 500 employees across multiple states.
Q. Is your company expanding any of its operations or locations?
A. Yes, Halcón Resources is expanding its operations in three core plays: the Bakken/Three Forks in North Dakota, the Utica/Point Pleasant in Ohio and Pennsylvania and the Woodbine in East Texas. It also has supplemental, non-core operations located in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Q. What is your company’s main strength or its edge over the competition?
A. Halcón Resources follows a proven model that exploits advances in technology, focuses on lifting costs and concentrates efforts in emerging liquids-prone plays in the United States.
Q. What new markets, clients or projects did your company attract in the last year?
A. Since the recapitalization of RAM Energy Resources, a conventional micro-cap E&P company, in February 2012, Halcón has entered several new unconventional resource plays such as the Bakken/Three Forks, the Woodbine, the Utica/Point Pleasant and the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale to name a few. Although the Bakken/Three Forks isn’t a “new” play to the industry, it is a new play for Halcón. Over time we will divest of all conventional assets and focus on three to five unconventional oil-levered resource plays.
Q. What is the most challenging work/contract the company has undertaken?
A. Lack of infrastructure in emerging plays, the Utica/Point Pleasant and the Woodbine is a concern, but Halcón views infrastructure challenges as an opportunity. As such, Halcón Field Services has been set up as a subsidiary to support the drilling operations, which will allow the Company to control the time it takes to get its products to market by installing, owning and operating midstream assets.
Q. What are the biggest obstacles to completing work your company undertakes?
A. Like many E&P companies, the biggest challenge is executing the drilling program and getting production online. Because of our track record, we have been able to attract a great group of employees that we are adding to every day. They are highly skilled in developing large scale acreage positions and are moving ahead quickly on the Halcón program.
Q. What do you see as your company’s biggest challenge in the next five years?
A. Execution is always a challenge; however the excellent track record of the Halcón management team combined with the technical focus of the operational teams for each core area helps minimize the execution risk.
Q. What is your company’s safety record? What steps does the company take to ensure a safe work environment?
A. At Halcón, we believe that Environment, Health and Safety excellence is a critical component of our business strategy. Our ability to do business depends on uncompromising compliance with industry rules and regulations. Our reputation depends on being responsible partners with our stakeholders everywhere. We are committed to the prevention of work related injuries and illnesses, and to being good stewards of the environment. Anticipating and preparing adequately for possible events we believe is our key to successful operations. Our EHS program puts a heavy emphasis on proper training of all personnel to ensure they have the skills necessary to execute their job responsibilities in a safe and effective manner. Our employees are empowered to make corrective action where any condition may jeopardize the safety or health of any employee, contractor, and member of the public or the environment.
Q. Has your company been involved in any community projects or charity events?
A. Because Halcón is a new company, we are in the beginning stages of putting together our giving program. This management team, in its three previous ventures, has always been committed to making significant investments in the communities in which we work. Halcón’s program will be focused around youth education and job training and creation. Halcón Resources has donated to the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program, which provides pre-college students with high media visibility research experience by providing each participating community with the ability to have their own real Space Program. It is an initiative designed to inspire and engage America’s next generation scientists and engineers.
Q. What is the address of your company’s Web site?
A. www.halconresources.com
