Coastal zone initiative fails to pass

Alaska voters have handily defeated a measure that would have re-established a coastal management program in Alaska.
With 98 percent of precincts reporting in the Sept. 28 primary, 62 percent of the vote was against Ballot Measure 2 and 38 percent for it.
