Q. What is the official name of your company?

A. Colville Inc.

Q. Is your firm a subsidiary or affiliate of other companies? If so, please name those firms and their relationship to your company.

A. Under the Colville Inc. umbrella: Colville Fuel & Transport, Colville Aviation, and Solid Waste Management. Ancillary companies include: Brooks Range Supply, Brooks Range Camp, Ben’s Towing, and Brooks Common’s.

Q. What do you most want people to know about your company?

A. With nearly 40 years of experience as a North Slope fuel supply company, Colville is well suited to satisfy the entirety of our clients’ fuel needs. As a contractor to oil producers, Native villages and regional corporations, Colville drives millions of miles annually across the paved, gravel, and ice road networks of the state to supply millions of gallons of fuel to our customers. We routinely provide ULSD, gasoline, AHF, Jet-A, and Avgas for North Slope operations, including the oil industry, marine and air carriers. We have an extensive and proven network of suppliers, highway transport tankers, bulk terminal tanks, and in-field delivery trucks. This comprehensive and proven system handles over 30 million gallons annually, and has the capacity to accommodate large volumes.

Our strategy integrates our clients’ requirements within this network, offering an efficient, broad-based supply and transport system that can handle an expansive range of requirements in both volume and type. We offer purchasing power economies of scale, a highly trained, specialized, and experienced workforce, and an established infrastructure in place. All of this is coupled with a company culture that engages safety and quality every day.

Additionally, Colville operates one of the largest public utility districts in the United States. Our Solid Waste service encompasses the Western region and the Dalton Highway region, including Kuparuk, Alpine, NPR-A west to the Ikpikpuk River, and down the Dalton Highway to Atigun Pass.

Q. Where is your company located?

A. Our Home office is in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Our transport facility is located in Fairbanks, our administrative offices are in Anchorage. We also have Napa stores in Kenai, Seward, and Soldotna.

Q. What year was the company founded and by whom?

A. Colville was founded in the 1981 by legendary bush pilot, Bud Helmericks.

Q. What is your company’s primary business activity?

A. The supply and delivery of fuel in Alaska is Colville’s core competency.

Q. Are there important projects the company is currently a part of or has done recently?

A. Colville is an Arctic logistics and supply company so we are an integral part of our customers’ projects. In 2018 we began barge fuel operations to accommodate the increased demand on the North Slope while reducing the congestion on the Dalton Highway. After completing a successful and safe first season, we designed and fabricated equipment that will enable us to haul more fuel this season, with reduced risk of injury.

Q. How many employees does your company have?

A. While we have some seasonal fluctuation, there are approximately 200 employees year-round.

Q. Describe the equipment your company uses and are there any new equipment purchases planned?

A. We have a large delivery fleet of A and B train tractor trailers, fuel spreader trucks, portable fuel tanks, and solid waste bins. New equipment purchases include fabrication of our 6th generation, Colville-designed portable fuel tanks and additional solid waste bins.

Q. Is your company expanding any of its operations or locations?

A. Historically, we have added bolt-on services in anticipation of our customers’ needs, as well as upon request. A few examples include making hoses, supplying steel, storing and delivering lubes.

Q. What is your company’s main strength or its edge over the competition?

A. Decades of experience, a robust infrastructure, and our focus on safety, the environment, and demonstrated continuous improvement culminates in reliable service delivery for our customers.

Q. What is the average length of time employee’s work for the company?

A. Our employee tenure covers the entire spectrum. We have summer interns that have only been with us a few months, new employees to support recent growth, and employees that have been with us for 20 years.

Q. Has your company been involved in any community projects or charity events?

A. Colville is an active community partner and participates in a variety of community projects and charity events.
