A. Cruz Energy Services, LLC is a Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) company.
Cruz Marine, LLC. (CML) is a sister to CES and also a CIRI company.
Cruz Energy Services, LLC was established on March 1, 2012 when it branched off of Cruz Construction, Inc. which was founded in 1979.
Q. What do you most want people to know about your company?
A. Cruz Energy has the capability to tackle any challenge that may arise. Whether it is moving a drill rig 30 miles or 3,000 miles, Cruz will provide an efficient, cost effective solution.
Few companies have the dedication to succeed in this challenging area of oilfield exploration and development. By utilizing new and innovative techniques, having two strategically placed offices in the Bakken and owning a fleet of equipment, we are able to provide resources to any location within a minutes notice.
We have the expertise, the equipment and fully understand the importance of delivering a quality complex project for our client on time, on budget and safe.
Q. Describe the services you provide.
A. Cruz Energy Services, LLC currently provides the followings services within the Bakken Oilfield and surrounding areas:
Rig Moving: On each rig move Cruz Energy Services deploys an experienced team capable of handling any kind of logistical challenge. Our modern North Dakota based fleet – including eight cranes, five twin steer bed trucks, four twin steer pole trucks and 20 winch tractors – can reach job sites anywhere from Eastern Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado and Wyoming.
Crane Operations: CES has 8 Link-Belt cranes, four 110-ton lattice crawlers, one 200-ton lattice crawler, two 100-ton hydraulic crane, one 90-ton hydraulic crane, and seven rigging trucks in its current equipment pool. Our large fleet of rig moving equipment means we can efficiently move our own cranes to the job site, keeping costs low for our clients.
Rig Support: Our history on Alaska’s North Slope gives us the experience to support drilling operations in all kinds of extreme conditions. Cruz provides rig support in all forms. Whether it’s pressure washing an entire rig, assembling flare lines, or cleaning up pads, Cruz has experienced personnel for all types of rig service work.
Q. What is your company’s main strength or its edge over the competition?
A. Innovation as well as a hands-on management style makes the Cruz what they are today: a team who successfully completes challenging projects in seemingly impossible situations, on time and on budget for our clients.
Q. What is the most challenging work the company has undertaken?
A. Cruz Energy along with Cruz Marine recently assisted Apache Corporation with mobilizing a drill rig from North Dakota to Alaska. Cruz’s sound management helped this project to meet all of its deadlines in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.
Q. What are the biggest obstacles to completing work your company undertakes?
A. Rig moves that consist of hundreds of miles between the origin and destination have been the most challenging. But with CES’s management and staff working with the clients, state agencies and local communities the projects have been completed on time and on budget. Cruz understands the client’s needs of a fast and efficient rig move to eliminate the downtime between drilling.
Q. Describe the equipment your company uses and is there any new equipment purchases planned?
A. Cruz Energy has an unsurpassed equipment fleet. Cranes, winch trucks, bed trucks, pole trucks, along with loaders make up the majority of our fleet. Cruz Energy recently purchased two new Kenworth bed trucks, along with two more tri-drive winch trucks. Cruz Energy continues to analyze the needs of our clients and expand our fleet. We take pride in our equipment which is noticeable when you see our equipment.
Q. What is your company’s safety record? What steps does the company take to ensure a safe work environment?
A. CES has a strong safety record. We continually work to ensure that our team is educated and work together to ensure everyone goes home at night safe and in one piece. We are conscience of all regulations, our client’s requirements and our employee’s needs in order to maintain our thorough HES program and to keep our and our clients safety reputation honorable.
Q. How many employees does your company have and what is their experience?
A. On average CES employs 150 people year round. We are committed to hiring and retaining well-trained, experienced and motivated workers. Our low employee turnover and safety record reflects that commitment. Our workers have a high rate of return and many have been with the company over 15 years. Our crews have decades of experience supporting resource development projects all across continent, and the right equipment and skilled manpower to take on any task.
Our experienced team uses modern equipment to meet our clients schedule as efficiently as possible. Cruz Energy Service’s key on-site personnel have over 100 years combined experience in this highly specialized area. Supervisors, many of whom have been moving drilling rigs for over 30 years, make sure logistics are done safely and quickly, as well as train our next generation of experts.
