Q. What is the official name of your company?

A. Doyon, Limited

Q. Does your company have subsidiaries? If so, please name.

A. Doyon is one of the largest Alaskan-owned businesses and operates more than a dozen for-profit companies in and outside of Alaska. The Doyon family of companies are comprised of: Doyon Drilling, Doyon Tourism, Doyon/ARAMARK JV, Doyon Government Group, Arctic Information Technology, Inc., designDATA, Doyon Associated, Mid-Alaska Pipeline, Doyon Anvil, Doyon Utilities, Doyon Remote Facilities & Services, Northern Laundry, Doyon facilities.

Q. What do you most want people to know about your company?

A. Doyon takes pride in and values its Native ownership and is owned by 20,000 shareholders. Doyon operates as a for-profit business to provide dividends and other benefits to its shareholders while working to ensure our Alaska Native way of life is sustained for future generations. Doyon is an integral part of the Alaskan economy, providing economic benefits far beyond our shareholders.

Q. Where is your company located?

A. Doyon’s corporate headquarters are based in Fairbanks, Alaska with administrative and subsidiary offices located in Anchorage and throughout the United States.

Q. What year was the company founded and brief history?

A. Doyon was established on June 26, 1972 pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971. Doyon is one of 12 Regional land-based Alaska Native corporations. ANCSA was passed to resolve a longstanding land claims dispute between the Alaska Native people and the federal and state governments. Doyon is the largest private land holder in Alaska. The Doyon region encompasses 37 villages, 26 village corporations, the tallest mountain in North America, four military bases, and the longest rivers in the state.

Q. What is your company’s primary business activity?

A. Doyon operates across four pillars: oil and gas, government contracting, tourism, and natural resources. In the oil and gas sector, our companies blend expertise and technological muscle in support of smooth, safe, and successful operations in the North Slope oil fields. In government contracting, we bring years of experience and an expert approach to our work with federal agencies. In tourism, we offer a variety of ways to experiences the splendor of the Denali National Park. In Natural resources, we manage the natural resources of our land with the utmost concern for safety and the environment.

Q. Does your Company have any landmark events coming up?

A. June 26, 2022 will mark Doyon’s 50 years of incorporation.

Q. Are there important projects the company is currently a part of or has done recently?

A. Doyon’s land ownership includes a vast mineral property holding within the well-known Tintina Gold Belt which provides many mineral exploration and development opportunities supporting jobs, training, and rural communities. Through exploration agreements with major and junior mining companies over the past four decades, Doyon has retained geological information from exploration on its lands. Many of the prospective lands are on or near the well-developed road system of Interior Alaska. Doyon looks forward to continued exploration to support the global and national demand for minerals, and local development of rural economies.

Q. How many employees does your company have?

A. The Doyon family of companies employs 1009 employees throughout Alaska and the Lower 48.

Q. Describe any new equipment?

A. Doyon Drilling, Inc. (DDI) Rig 26, an extended reach drilling rig, will begin drilling operations in April 2020. Rig 26, coined "The Beast," will be the largest land-based rig in North America, with the capability for directional drilling to a depth of at least 33,000 feet and capacity to develop resources within a 125 square mile area. Rig 26 is part of ConocoPhillips Alaska’s long-term strategic plan to bring the capabilities of an extended reach drilling rig to the North Slope. DDI is the premier drilling contractor on the North Slope of Alaska and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Doyon.

A. At Doyon, we are committed to giving back to promote the economic and social wellbeing of our shareholders. Our donation programs are designed to give back in a meaningful way which enhances the Native way of life and provide benefits to our shareholders, our communities and our state.
