Bakken Directory Spring 2014: ENVIRON sponsors event at SETAC North America 2013
During this year’s SETAC North America Conference in Nashville, Tenn., ENVIRON sponsored and participated in a community service event for local high school students.
Thirty students from six high schools in Nashville had the opportunity to learn about the ecology of freshwater mussels and help restock species native to the Duck River. ENVIRON staff and other SETAC volunteers assisted in the restocking effort and shared their experiences in the field of environmental studies.
Located just outside of Nashville, the Duck River benefits from a mussel stocking initiative headed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Tennessee Nature Conservancy, including ongoing native mussel restoration work.
